Working
for a sustainable future in Penwith!
PEN
is registered charity no. 295087 with the objective “to
promote the conservation, protection and improvement of
the physical and natural environment, and to educate and
inform the public and others in all related matters.”
PEN has had many differing
faces over the years, set up in 1984; it became a charity
in 1987. Originally it was known as Penwith Green Centre
and for many years it ran an open centre for the public
to access information about environmental issues in Penwith.
This became unsustainable and the charity evolved into
a network promoting environmental issues in a local context.
Increasing environmental awareness through education and
networking with other groups in Penwith, and further a
field, is the intention of PEN. The main body of PEN’s
work is centred on the Millennium
Woodland Project and the project at Love
Lane. PEN also organises
the annual Green Fair held in Penzance. This year, for
the first time, PEN is hosting the Autumn
Fayre celebration of local produce. PEN
subscribes to and then donates the following magazines,
Regurgence, Permaculture and Ethical Consumer, to Penzance
library as a resource for the whole community.
